If you are searching for natural fertility treatments, there are a few things you can do that will help your chances of conceiving in a more natural way. While medicine and technology can be a vital part of the fertility journey, there are many natural ways that can aid the process. Today, we are going to talk about how a simple walk in the sand can have a positive effect on your chances of conceiving and the science behind it.
Concepts Called Earthing or Grounding
Earthing (or grounding) is the concept that states your health can be improved by directly connecting with the earth.
For some, this may seem a bit far-fetched, but interestingly there is solid data to support that this idea is beneficial and may lead to better health.
How Does Earthing Or Grounding Lead To Better Health?
The principle involves the electrical mechanisms of the body. It’s a concept that states modern tasks, cities, and structures have taken us further away from the earth.
The Earth’s surface has a negative charge. Ideally, humans should be neutral. However, with all of the modern societal advancements, they trend towards a positive charge. As we metabolize nutrients we produce “free radicals” which are needed to battle infections, but if they build up can be destructive to normal tissues in the body. Proponents of earthing find that getting in direct contact with the earth can restore a neutral balance and therefore improve health.
How Does Earthing Relate To IVF?
Excess free radicals can cause chronic inflammation and cell damage. This can damage eggs and lead to conditions like endometriosis, which can be a cause of infertility.
There are ways to reduce free radicals. This can include eating anti-oxidant foods and polyphenols. Grounding is also a common way to reduce free radicals.
Grounding is best done by walking barefooted on the ground. Good examples of this include walking on the beach or submerging in the water. This allows the current of the ground to neutralize the positive ions that cause inflammation. Although much of the research on grounding has focused on chronic pain and inflammatory conditions, there is evidence that grounding can reduce stress hormone levels and improve menstrual hormone levels. This could be a benefit while trying to become pregnant.
Grounding is a safe way to reduce stress hormones and limit free radicals from causing damage, but this can be a challenge if you live in an urban environment. Cities often have limited earth to walk upon and underground power lines can negatively affect the currents for grounding. If you live in a city and want to try grounding, there are items such as earthing mats and blankets that you can purchase.
In addition, it may be beneficial to take a vacation to a less urban area. This will connect you again with the earth.
I can relate to my patients with this too. I too was a physician in New York City and saw the toll it took on patient’s mental and physical state. This is the reason I switched practices and opened Cayman Fertility Centre.
There are several other ways you can also reconnect with yourself and improve your health for greater chances at conceiving.
